Mindy Flexer's Paintings

Mindy Flexer Art School

Welcome!! Read on for more about who we are and what we do here.

Welcome to our new incarnation!

I've turned my studio into an electronic art and activism hub until we can meet here again in person. As much as I love the physical world, I am happy to be together any way we can— so join me and our wonderful community on the big screen!

Weavers Way and Mindy Flexer Art School are teaming up for a virtual
Make-In to Celebrate Our Parents and Our Other Ancestors and Heroes
May 2, drop in between 1:00pm and 2:30pm

We’ve all gained so much strength from the people who have come before us. Let’s use this time to appreciate them and all they have given us. You are invited to make things to give or mail to your special people, or to keep for yourself to remind you of their love and wisdom.
Here’s how it works:
— When you Zoom in, I can show you creative card and book structures you or your children can make using just paper, scissors and glue, or you can enjoy everyone’s company while you create projects from your own ideas.
— Children and adults are all invited.
— If you participate as a group, people can make their own projects or work as a team. ·
— Children under 8 will need a chaperone.

How to participate:
— If you are interested, please let me know at maflexer@gmail.com, and I can send you the Zoom link.
—You’re invited to share a photo of your image with your social network on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. ·

It will be fun to share and celebrate the wonderful people who have made a difference for us!

May online art classes are starting!

These classes are on a sliding scale, including full scholarships. There is one for children, one for teens, and one for adults. In each class, we will be inspired by great art, learn new skills, develop individual ideas, and most important, be together as artists.

For children: class starts Tuesday, April 7, but you can jump in any time. Click here for more info and to sign up.

I'm Mindy Flexer, and I created this school in my loft to give all kinds of people of all ages a place to come together and make art. As a working artist in Germantown, I'm delighted to be able to invite people into my studio to share the journey with me!

My studio is an inclusive place where every person is cherished and nurtured. It is a base camp: a safe home, beautiful and meaningful in itself, from which to launch other expeditions. Within and beyond the studio, it is good to have big dreams and to take on big challenges: creating art, creating community, and creating a more just world together.

SUMMER FINE ART AND PORTFOLIO INTENSIVE
AND SUMMER ART CAMP

What's happening? Since none of us knows how long the pandemic will last, I don't know whether it will be safe to have my summer programs in their usual form. Please register for weeks you know you would like to come, but you don't need to send a deposit. If camp does happen, you will still receive the early-bird discount if you register before April 1, even without a deposit. If camp doesn't happen, I may still offer some kind of online program. I will know more in the coming weeks as I do more online teaching. Stay tuned!

ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN, TEENS, AND ADULTS

I will resume my in-person class schedule as soon as it's safe to-- stay tuned for when that will be. Meanwhile, you’re still invited to zoom in to your art on in a vibrant artistic community that empowers you to be you— you can see the info above. We will love having you join us! For future reference, you can see the range of what is usually offered in the studio here.

ART CLASSES FOR CHILDREN AND TEENS: there are Monday morning homeschool classes, Wednesday after-school classes, and Saturday morning classes. You can see the schedule here.

This fall, we focused on the many forms of water on our planet. We made paintings of our ideas, including oceans and rivers, rain and snow, waterfalls and icebergs. We also imagined and built structures that made use of water. Some could recapture water, float on water, or use water for stability or other purposes. Come see our artists’ visions of the many splendors of water!

It was really exciting to see the enormous outpouring of creativity that went into making signs for the December 6 Climate Strike. We had a great time together and are looking forward to including you all in the next round. . . so stay tuned! The organization that made the art build happen is Sunrise, a youth movement committed to stopping climate change and creating millions of good jobs in the process. You can read more about them here: www.sunrisemovement.org.
