Welcome to Mindy’s E-Art Hub!

Here are some instructions about how it will all work. You may know all this already, but I'm just learning it, so I'm sending it out for the other newbies like me.

Getting ready by setting up your home studio:

The space:
You will need to set up a place for you or your child to do artwork. It can be as simple or fancy as you would like. Just a table or a spot on the floor will do. Then you'll need to set up your computer there so that your screen can see the artist and what they are making. You may need to experiment with this. . . . and it's also fine for the artist to hold up their work if it's not easy for the screen to them and their work at the same time. We’ll all get to keep experimenting with this. Also, see if you can find or create a place it’s okay to make a mess. It makes a big difference for all of us when we don’t have to worry about keeping things clean.

The materials:
Use whatever you have!
Forage around the house. For drawing and painting, anything will do: plain old pencils, markers, color pencils, crayons, oil pastels, paint of any kind. For building, many things we normally throw away can be really fun to work with: old cardboard boxes, egg cartons, plastic bottles, toilet paper and paper towel tubes and things like that. Then there are the high class treasures: buttons, scraps of fabric and ribbon, old postcards and calendars, tin foil, and other beautiful things we often overlook. If you want specific art supplies, you may be able to order them from www.dickblick.com or www.artistcraftsman.com or www.rghartistoilpaint.com. You can also get things from me, because I have lots of stuff! Email me if you really need something and we can make arrangements for you to pick it up here.

Warning:
Once you have a home studio, you or your child may want to spend lots of time there when you are supposed to be doing other things!

Getting ready by setting up your computer:

First, install zoom's free application on whatever device you want to use. A computer will have room for bigger pictures of everybody in the class than a phone. You can find the link here: https://www.zoom.us/signup.

At the time of the class:Click on the link I will send you when you sign up for your class. Amazingly enough, you will appear on the screen, along with everybody else, and we can start!

If you want to try it ahead of time to check it out:You can test your studio set-up to see how works. You or your child can click on that link anytime, and you will magically appear on their computer screen. You can complete your test by sending the link to someone else (including someone in your house). Both people can click the link, and you'll have a tiny meeting together!

Any thoughts or questions?

Contact me and we can talk! Let’s keep figuring things out together as we go along. I’m really excited about collaborating with all of you on this.
