This workshop will be a wonderful opportunity to hone your technical art skills and develop your artistic vision, as a middle schooler, high schooler, or adult. The different weeks this workshop is offered are independent of each other, so participants can sign up for one, two, or all three of them.

Participants applying to Creative and Performing Arts High School (CAPA) will have a chance to create a portfolio that fulfills CAPA’s demanding representational drawing, painting, and 3D requirements. Rather than being pressured in a last-minute rush to produce the required pieces, artists will get to use preparing a portfolio to engage in the artistic process in a relaxed and meaningful way. This workshop also includes matting artwork and audition preparation. 

Participants who are not applying to CAPA will also get to build their technical skills, and to use those skills to create a meaningful body of artwork. Artists will get to set and realize their own artistic goals, guided by their own interests and the challenges of representational drawing and painting. There will also be a chance to do sculpture, sewing, or printmaking.

Working as a community of serious, committed artists in an atmosphere of supportive camaraderie and esprit de corps will be fun and inspiring for everyone!
