Welcome toSustaining All Life and United to End Racism’s workshops at
FROM THE GROUND UP, November 12 - November 22
This a global gathering providing the space to educate, strategize and co-ordinate, so we can build power and connect within our global justice movements.
Sustaining All Life (SAL) and United to End Racism (UER) are projects of the Re-Evaluation Counseling Community, a personal and global change organization I belong to. We believe the environmental crisis cannot be resolved without ending racism, genocide toward Indigenous peoples, classism, sexism, and other oppressions. At our workshops, we will share our perspective on current aspects of the climate emergency and offer tools of engaged listening to free ourselves and others from emotional hurts that have interfered with our thinking and acting, and to empower each other to take charge of our lives and communities. Our workshops are interactive, giving participants the chance to share their experiences and be listened to as well as listen to others.

Young people and young adults are a revolutionary force and have been at the forefront of many important social movements, including the climate movement today. The lack of respect for young people’s thinking and leadership abilities can mean that the important abilities we have to offer are underutilized.
Expressing Climate Grief
Saturday, November 21
2:00 — 4:00 PM EST
Followed by optional support group
The environmental crisis brings feelings of loss, fear, and frustration. Unless these feelings are healed, they interfere with our initiative, our hope for the future, and the intelligence and energy we need to respond effectively to the climate emergency. Openly expressing our emotions about the crisis can help us think better and take concrete action.
How to Lead Listening Circles
Sunday, November 22
5:00 — 7:00 AM EST
Followed by optional support group
Listening circles are a powerful way to build a strong, united climate movement. Facing climate breakdown and global injustice brings up many emotions, including anger, discouragement, and grief. If we continually push our feelings down, they can interfere with our thinking, which makes our activism less effective. Taking turns listening gives each of us more space than usual to express whatever we feel. Then we think more clearly.
