8/26 - 8/30, The Art and Craft of Nature, Week 2
8/26 - 8/30, The Art and Craft of Nature, Week 2
from $0.00
The two weeks of this camp are independent of each other, so participants can sign up for one or both weeks.
Artists all over the world have always been inspired by nature, and we will become part of this long and honorable tradition. We will look at nature itself, contemporary images and sculptures, and artwork from long ago, as a jumping-off point for our own two- and three-dimensional creations. (Warning: a little secret math may be involved in all the patterns we will see!) We will also explore some of the functional things people made to use nature, like baskets, and to protect themselves from it, like blankets and quilts.
This camp may include time at Grumblethorpe Historic House, a little slice of the natural world that is right down the street from the studio. Stay tuned for details!
